The announcement by the US secretary of war that the Pentagon will live-stream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan is a repulsive display of the depravity and moral decay of capitalist democracy in the United States. It is also a further sign of the danger of incipient fascism in this country. The method of the killing, placing the instruments of death in the hands of those closest to the tragedy, and the plan to make a spectacle of this execution, are nothing short of lynching — a lynching set to be broadcast into the living rooms of millions across the United States and around the world.
