Further deterioration of the standard of living of working people and new attacks on democratic rights have become the order of the day across the United States, along with imperialist assaults around the world.
Yet, resistance to these attacks has been a breath of fresh air. At the forefront has been the tenacious struggle by working people to push back the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) siege in Minnesota. There, tens of thousands of organized volunteers succeeded in forcing a retreat of the federal thugs.
Meanwhile, protests against the U.S. military assault on Venezuela and Washington’s inhuman oil blockade of Cuba underscored the parallels between the domestic and foreign policies of U.S. imperialism.
Most inspiring has been the new faces joining protests, especially high school students who organized anti-ICE walkouts and rallies across the United States.
We now face a new challenge: drawing in these young people alongside broad layers of the population to oppose the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran and demand that U.S. troops come home now.
The much-needed infusion of new blood in the anti-ICE protests brought with it a responsibility to connect today’s youth to the lessons of yesterday’s struggles and insights on the challenges ahead.
In response to discussion on the counter-mobilization in Minneapolis against rightist Jake Lang, World-Outlook published the three-part series Strategy & Tactics in Fighting Racist, Fascist Attacks.
The two-part news analysis Washington’s Conquest in Venezuela co-authored by Pete Seidman, a leader of the Miami Cuba and Venezuela solidarity coalitions, addressed vital questions on the character of the Venezuelan government and how to best stand shoulder-to-shoulder with that country’s people against U.S. imperialism.
We have presented fresh evidence that the Cuban revolution is the only living example today of a society that shows a road forward for humanity. Highlighting speeches and writings by Cuban revolutionaries remains one of our top priorities. A good example is a column by former Cuban ambassador to Washington José R. Cabañas Rodríguez, Cuba: ‘Failed State’ or Besieged Nation?
And what we publish gets around, often with the help of our readers. World-Outlook’s editorial We Stand with Cuba — For All Time was published by Trabajadores, the weekly newspaper of the Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC).
A special thanks to the growing number of our readers who wrote articles, sent photos, or provided details about developments in their areas. You have made an invaluable contribution to spreading the word and generalizing important lessons from local experiences.
The recent increase in World-Outlook’s subscription base is the result of efforts by readers who have taken time to talk to people they collaborate with, whether on the streets looking after their immigrant neighbors or in actions opposing Washington’s wars.
We invite all subscribers to join this effort, with a special emphasis on signing up young people. Not only will this widen World-Outlook’s reach, it will also provide new impetus for improving our coverage. Comments and reactions from subscribers, or initiatives from readers to cover events in their areas, often result in valuable articles or opinion columns clarifying important political questions.

To help in the outreach, we’ve embedded links to recent coverage in this appeal. We are also providing QR codes (left) for quick access to the World-Outlook site as well as our Spanish-language sister publication Panorama-Mundial. You can copy the codes to the picture gallery in your phone for easy sharing.
