A string of incidents over the last month has revealed the extent to which bigotry and Jew hatred have taken center stage in the Republican Party and the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, which ushered Donald Trump to a second term in the White House. The widespread antisemitism and racism within the right wing have also led to a public debate among conservative politicians and pundits. And they have taken the fig leaf off Trump’s claims that he is combating antisemitism by arresting and trying to deport pro-Palestinian students, academics, and others; strong-arming universities like Columbia; and threatening non-profits and other groups opposing his policies by applying terrorism designations and more.

Chicago trade unionists speak out against ICE attacks on immigrants

Since the start of Operation Midway Blitz, heavily armed federal agents have descended on this city and the surrounding suburbs. They have shot at least two people and killed one and have sprayed bystanders with pepper balls and tear gas, including a children’s Halloween parade in a neighborhood park. They have beaten protesters, bystanders, and journalists, and have abducted undocumented and legal residents, including children. These attacks, however, have not gone unanswered. Daily life in Chicago has changed in just the three months since Trump announced he was planning to send troops to Chicago; how much so is difficult to describe.

U.S. Military Strikes in Latin America, Caribbean: Murder at Sea

On November 6, the U.S. Navy carried out the latest in a series of strikes in international waters against small vessels allegedly trafficking drugs to the United States. These attacks in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific have resulted in at least 70 deaths — people killed without any chance to answer Washington’s allegations — and there is no sign they will stop anytime soon. The administration of U.S. president Donald Trump has yet to provide a shred of evidence showing that these boats were loaded with narcotics or that the people on board were willing participants in drug trafficking.

World Votes with Cuba to Demand an End to U.S. Blockade

The world has spoken. An overwhelming majority of United Nations (UN) member states voted for the 33rd time at the UN General Assembly to demand an end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba. The resolution on the “necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” passed with 165 votes in favor, 7 against, and 12 abstentions.

On September 10, 2025, Dr. Tom Alter, a tenured professor of history at Texas State University (TSU) in San Marcos, Texas, was fired for remarks made at an online socialist conference, speaking in his capacity as a private citizen. Alter was terminated by TSU President Kelly Damphousse without even a hearing. This denial of due process was a clear violation of both Texas State University policy and Texas state law. In addition to providing the facts of the case, this article explains what can be done to support the campaign to reinstate Alter and defend free speech.

On August 22, 2025, Kilmar Abrego García, a sheet metal apprentice and member of International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART) Local 100, went home to his family in Maryland. The immigrant worker was released after months of incarceration, much of that in a notoriously brutal prison in El Salvador where he had been deported by the Department of Homeland Security without his constitutionally guaranteed right to due process. Three days later, ICE arrested Abrego García once again, and the government is trying to deport him to Uganda. This article describes the significance of the defense case of this immigrant worker for the labor movement and the entire working class.

In an expansive interview reported in this essay, Assaf David provides a glimpse of the destructive impact on Israeli society from Israel’s ongoing slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza. Through the accounts of many Gazans he is in direct contact with, David describes the Israeli-caused starvation epidemic in Gaza and calls for an immediate end to Israel’s onslaught. His account is more compelling given David’s biography. He grew up in a religious Zionist home in the urban settlement of Kiryat Arba, abutting Hebron, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, later served in the Israeli army for 11 years, was seriously wounded in one of Hamas’ first suicide attacks, and for years was an adviser for the Israeli prime minister’s office.
