You Can Now Listen to World-Outlook & Panorama-Mundial!

Dear readers,

We are pleased to announce that we have just added a “text-to-speech” (TTS) feature to World-Outlook and its sister Spanish-language publication Panorama-Mundial.

Now, while you are out for a walk, driving to work, or just taking a break, you can listen to any of the articles posted on the site. The audio files can either be streamed or downloaded to a device for later access using controls on the “player” that appears immediately below each headline.

In addition to starting and stopping the player or forwarding and reversing with the slider, listeners will be able to adjust the volume or use the settings button to increase or decrease the speed of the voice. The player will remain visible as the reader scrolls down the page.

If you are the first person to access a particular post, you will experience a delay after clicking “play” while the audio file generates; once it finishes, click “play” again. Otherwise, the audio should begin immediately.

You may notice some style changes in our written manuscripts. A number of these are driven by the limitations of the current versions of this technology. Some of those changes will remain permanent. We may revisit others as TTS features are updated.

We’d love to know what you think about this addition to the website. And, if you notice glitches, mispronunciations, or other issues, please email us at world.outlook.2021@gmail.com or simply leave a comment below.

A heartfelt thank you to all readers who made generous donations recently, allowing us to enable an audio version of this website.

In solidarity,

World-Outlook/Panorama-Mundial editors
